US Vice President JD Vance says negotiations with Iran are showing signs of progress toward ending the conflict.
Iran-US Talks Show Signs of Progress as Regional Tensions Continue

US Vice President JD Vance has said that negotiations with Iran are moving forward, even though President Donald Trump recently rejected Tehran’s latest proposal, calling it unacceptable. Diplomatic efforts are still underway to stop the fragile ceasefire between Washington and Tehran from collapsing.
At the same time, Iranian military official Brigadier-General Mohammad Akrami Nia stated that Iran’s armed forces remain on the “highest level of readiness,” warning that the country is fully prepared for any possible escalation with the United States and that “there is no room for retreat.”
Meanwhile, Israel revealed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu allegedly made a secret visit to the United Arab Emirates during the Iran conflict and held talks with the UAE president, according to the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office. However, UAE officials have denied that such a meeting ever took place.
Developments Inside Iran
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that any countries cooperating with Israel against Tehran would be “held accountable.” He accused certain regional states of helping Israel create divisions in the region, describing such actions as “unforgivable.”
Separately, large crowds gathered in Tehran’s Enghelab Square to celebrate Iran’s national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Supporters waved Iranian flags while players appeared on stage wearing red and black tracksuits. Football federation president Mehdi Taj praised the squad, saying the team represents “the people, the country’s fighters, the leader, and the nation.” Some attendees also carried placards honoring former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed during the war.
