Israeli Strikes Kill 22 Palestinians

A wave of Israeli airstrikes across northern and central Gaza has left at least 22 Palestinians dead, according to Hamas-run medical and civil defence authorities.

At least 22 Palestinians, including a senior Hamas commander and multiple civilians, were killed as Israeli forces launched a new wave of strikes across northern and central Gaza. According to Gaza’s medical and civil defence officials, Israel targeted residential homes, crowded junctions, and civilian areas, despite the ceasefire agreed six weeks ago.

Local authorities said five separate sites were hit in Gaza City, Deir al-Balah, and Nuseirat, with entire families affected. Civilians were killed near a mosque, inside their homes, and on busy streets, with witnesses reporting cars set ablaze in the Rimal district.

Hamas denied Israel’s claim of an earlier “terrorist infiltration,” accusing Israel of using unverified accusations as justification to bomb civilian neighbourhoods. Gaza’s health ministry said over 310 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli attacks since the ceasefire began, calling it evidence of systematic violations.

Hamas condemned Israel’s actions as a “blatant breach” aimed at creating “new facts on the ground,” while urging mediators and the US to pressure Israel to honour the agreement.

Since October 2023, Israel’s offensive has killed at least 69,500 Palestinians, including 280 during the ceasefire, deepening international concerns over Israel’s conduct and disregard for civilian life.
