An international law enforcement crackdown led by INTERPOL has resulted in a significant blow to cybercrime operations across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Law enforcement also identified another 382 suspects across 13 countries (Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Tunisia, and the UAE).
Under the coordinated effort known as “Operation Ramz,” authorities dismantled a large network of cybercriminal infrastructure, seizing 53 servers linked to malware distribution and phishing campaigns.
According to officials involved in the operation, the seized servers were actively being used to host malicious software, conduct phishing attacks, and facilitate unauthorized access to sensitive data. These digital platforms formed part of a broader cybercriminal ecosystem targeting individuals, financial institutions, and organizations across multiple countries.
The large-scale operation also led to the arrest of more than 200 suspects allegedly involved in various cybercrime activities. These included online fraud, identity theft, financial scams, and coordinated phishing schemes designed to steal personal and banking information.
INTERPOL coordinated the operation in collaboration with law enforcement agencies from several MENA countries, sharing intelligence and cyber forensics data to track down suspects and identify compromised infrastructure. The effort highlights the growing importance of cross-border cooperation in combating increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
Officials stated that the success of Operation Ramz demonstrates the scale and complexity of modern cybercrime networks, which often operate across multiple jurisdictions and rely on anonymized digital infrastructure to evade detection.
Cybersecurity experts have welcomed the operation, noting that dismantling malware and phishing servers not only disrupts ongoing attacks but also weakens the long-term capabilities of cybercriminal groups. However, they also warned that such networks are highly adaptive, and continuous monitoring and international collaboration remain essential.
Operation Ramz is being viewed as one of the more significant recent global actions against cybercrime in the MENA region, reinforcing INTERPOL’s role in coordinating multinational responses to digital threats.
Authorities have indicated that investigations are ongoing, and further arrests and seizures may follow as digital evidence is analyzed.
