Israeli Strikes Intensify Across Gaza
Israeli air attacks have once again hit Gaza’s northern city of Beit Lahiya, eastern Gaza City, and Khan Younis in the south, where heavy artillery shelling has also been reported, according to Al Jazeera Arabic. The renewed bombardment has left civilians trapped in fear, with already devastated neighborhoods facing further destruction.
Mounting Civilian Casualties
Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that at least 245 Palestinians have been killed and 627 wounded since the ceasefire came into effect on October 10. Hospitals, struggling with shortages of fuel, medicine, and staff, are overwhelmed by the influx of casualties, underscoring the fragility of the truce and the humanitarian crisis gripping the enclave.
Fragile Ceasefire and UN Concerns
UN Secretary-General António Guterres described the ceasefire as “fragile” and “repeatedly violated,” urging all parties to honor their commitments. He emphasized that the pause in fighting should be used to pursue lasting peace and protection for civilians, rather than a temporary lull before renewed violence.
Cross-Border Escalation in Lebanon

The conflict began after Hamas’s October 7 attack, which killed 1,139 people in Israel and saw around 200 taken captive. Human rights organizations continue to call for accountability and an end to attacks on civilians on both sides.
